All is Fair

All is Fair is an upcoming comic opera in three acts from composer/librettist Leonardo Dugan. A mixture of Verdi, Mozart, Cole Porter, and Judd Apatow, All is Fair is the story of three “bros” who discover that their mutual friend Lana is no longer romantically involved with a certain disreputable fellow named Steve. They agree to a “gentlemen’s bet” – they will all pursue Lana, and “may the best man win.” Of course all manner of skullduggery and mayhem ensues as these three fools compete for the affections of a woman who certainly has no intentions of being “won” by anyone!

Lana’s Act I aria “It’s Not Me, It’s You,” about her breakup with Steve, has been performed all over the country by mezzo-soprano Kara Dugan and her husband (and the composer’s brother) pianist Peter Dugan to enthusiastic acclaim. Stay tuned for more updates as All is Fair nears completion and more arias from the opera are released. UPDATE 5/31/2022: Acts I and II are complete, and Act III is in progress!
